Winter or Summer, The Choice Is Yours

Whether your life remains in winter or moves toward your summer, the choice is yours.

Sounds very motivational doesn’t it?  Well, it’s supposed to.  However truly think about those few words, the profoundness of their truth is astounding.

There’s an old saying, a Chinese proverb some say, that goes, “Every journey starts with a single step.

Motivation for personal development is wonderful as long as it moves you in the correct direction.

And while we all understand what the point is, in practice it’s incorrect.  In fact it’s terribly incorrect and does great injustice to those who are idea prone, who continually conceptualize within the world known as what could be.  Those who embrace the imagination have made the first step for renewing their present and changing their future.

A journey doesn’t start with a single step, it starts with a single thought, an idea, a dream of what if.  Life will throw things at us, and who knows, we may be willing participants in our own premature demise, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.  – Albert Camus

Certainly roadblocks and speed bumps will hinder us, sometimes for lengthy periods of time, but if we ever make a conscious decision to drop the dream and become, well, merely mortal, it would be better if we’d never had the dream at all.  And we could live in foolish non-reflection of a world we’ll never enter.  We could ignorantly and somewhat blissfully remain, merely mortal.

Don’t turn the light off like the masses that move around you every day.  Set aside something or somewhere and slowly start adding to your dream.  It might be a room that you set aside as the place where you go to work on your dream.  It may just be a corner of a room, but it’s your area and it’s where you move from an idea to making a concrete and substantive move toward you goal.

motivationWe move toward the light by first determining where the light, your light is, then start a plan.  And if it takes decades, well, you’re probably going to be around for decades anyway, so you might as well be working on your dream and not always on someone else’s.

If you could magically project yourself into the future, and you looked back on your today, what is it you would like to see yourself having done, what decisions would like to see yourself making at this present time?

Albert Einstein once wrote; “Life is like riding a bicycle, you have to keep moving in order to keep your balance.”

Then start making the decisions, however small that you know you want to make.
